Research
Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University is leading the way in research, discovery and innovation to develop solutions for business, industry, government and academia.
With access to the Embry-Riddle Research Park, university researchers and students are partnering with businesses, entrepreneurs and start-ups to provide a foundation to begin or grow their enterprise. Users have access to cutting-edge tools that help to make ERAU a premier science and engineering solution – such as an advanced subsonic wind tunnel, a Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) that can be used remotely and a Cray® CS™ supercomputer.
Embry-Riddle has two programs available for faculty to jump-start their research programs: Faculty Research Development Program (FRDP) and Faculty Innovative Research in Science & Technology (FIRST) program. FRDP funds travel to scientific meetings and research equipment. The FIRST program provides seed funding to start a research program, including support for students to work on a project.
The John Mica Engineering and Aerospace Innovation Complex, the cornerstone of the Research Park, presents a unique collaborative opportunity. Here, businesses and the university community can develop, refine and bring new products and technological services to market with access to a network of support to shepherd them through the stages of development.
With an eye on the future, we don’t plan to stop there.
In August 2019, the university announced plans to expand its successful Research Park and advance innovation in the Daytona Beach, Fla., area by establishing a presence within the new Space Square aerospace hub. Work Space, a collaborative co-working environment managed Embry-Riddle, will offer flexible workspaces to early-stage companies, along with preferred access to all of the resources offered by the university, including faculty-guided research and state-of-the-art equipment.
It is clear that Embry-Riddle researchers are taking full advantage of these and other opportunities available to them to help change the world.
